Native Earth: 19/20 Season Marketing

Role: Marketing Coordinator (Branding & Strategy)

Project: In planning for Native Earth Performing Arts‘ 19/20 Season, I saw an opportunity to take a bold approach to the visuals and layout. My goal was to reach a broader audience, particularly a younger demographic, by using simple visuals that capture the essence of each featured shows. I spearheaded the branding revamp, collaborating once again with illustrator Mariah Meawasige and designer Harley Haskett. This involved overseeing the entire process from ideation to execution, resulting in a dynamic, colour-driven aesthetic that garnered positive responses and excitement from industry professionals and our audience. In addition to branding, I developed the annual marketing plan, encompassing social media promotions, online ads, and print collaterals, as well as managing public relations and community partnerships.

As part of the season marketing, I worked closely with the Festival Producer to meticulously outline a comprehensive marketing timeline, budget, and scope for Weesageechak Begins to Dance, an annual two-week development festival showcasing New Indigenous work (theatre, dance, music, and multi-disciplinary creations). My responsibility also included liaising with 60 artists, creatives, and professionals from across Turtle Island (North America) and Australia for promotional materials, and organizing Opening Night and Closing Night receptions (VIP invitations, catering, setup). It was my third and final Weesageechak, and seeing the growing excitement of people eager to join this festival each year has been a true highlight. The months of planning coming together and blooming on stage was the most fruitful, meaningful, and wonderful experience.
