Native Earth: 18/19 Season Marketing

Role: Marketing Coordinator (Branding & Strategy)

Project: The 18/19 Season marked the first time I fully took the reins of marketing and branding since joining Native Earth Performing Arts. By observing industry trends and identifying opportunities for the company, I proposed a collaboration with an emerging illustrator from the community. This collaboration aimed to produce dynamic visuals that would serve as iconic representations of each featured show, along with a cohesive color palette that would define the entire season.

Working closely with with illustrator Mariah Meawasige and designer Harley Haskett, I oversaw the creation of digital visuals that were subsequently adapted into print collaterals. This process encompassed defining the scope and timeline, establishing open communication channels with the creatives and the Directors for feedback and input, and coordinating with media for promotional efforts.

Immediately following the season branding was the planning of Weesageechak Begins to Dance, an annual two-week development festival showcasing New Indigenous work (theatre, dance, music, and multi-disciplinary creations). This festival marked my first opportunity to lead organization and coordination from inception to completion. Collaborating closely with the Festival Producer, I delved into the intricacies of festival planning, thoroughly analyzing past events to identify lessons learned and areas for enhancement.

The skills and experience acquired through my role in spearheading both season and festival marketing – encompassing project management, digital marketing, and event planning – all with the overarching goal of delivering a meaningful, lasting impact to our audience, have significantly influenced and shaped my marketing approach.
